A Few Things for Friday (Saturday Edition).

I had this post written for yesterday, but it is happening today. Welcome to my life. :)

I like all this writing about things I'm liking/doing at the moment, it helps this mildly frazzled brain of mine empty a bit so that I can be less...well, frazzled.

1. FIRST. I meant to put this in last week's post but I forgot. (Frazzled.)

If you haven't already downloaded/spotify-ed this Ryn Weaver album, you should. It is SO good. So good. I realize it's quite possible, even probable, that everyone already knows about this girl, but just humor me. I spend my days singing the Veggie Tales theme song.

2. I am currently reading Pride & Prejudice. I am a bit ashamed to say this for it is my all-time favorite movie (the Keira Knightly version gets me every time), but it's the truth. Am I even allowed to have it as a favorite movie if I haven't read the book? Anyways...I am working on it. Also--Death Comes to Pemberly on Netflix: entertaining....worth a watch. (or two!)

3. Still waiting on inventory for the booth to arrive...STILL WAITING. I am very impatient, I guess. Bryan got the roof up on the booth but I am still wanting to drape it with fabric of some sort. Hoping to get that done tomorrow.

(One of my all-time favorite BHG house tours. I think this was like 5 or 6 years ago? So good.)

4. I cannot find a fiddle leaf fig in Lubbock. It's just not happening...and I would really like to jump on that bandwagon like pronto. Any pointers? Any really cool Lubbock gardeners that can get me into a secret fiddle leaf fig club? ;)

5. Parker left for Colorado yesterday to see Nonnie and my sisters (Pops had to go on a fire...boo.) I am having withdrawals just a bit which is semi-ridiculous since I was a little toddler-tired this last week. I thought I would essentially get a vacation with just the one baby but Hayes is happily proving me wrong on that front. Just today he broke a vase, spilled a (cold) cup of coffee all over the couch and rug, climbed into the fireplace, and swung (in terror) on the door of the entertainment center. That last one was pretty comical. :) He also has no sense of what "Mommy's toys" are, as Parker calls them. Sweet Parker Reed was not really interested in all my decorating stuff (like at all...I know now how lucky I was), but HAYES. Hayes, you are a crazy baby. And you are in. to. it. all. Exhausting, I tell you. But cute! And also 10 months old today! Good grief.

6. I am juggling several plates right now and am about to lose my marbles (see above.) I go through times when I'm like, "I'm so bored....let me just add 37 things ALL AT ONCE." I cannot seem to space things out....does this happen to anyone else? Right now: Shop (and adding Christmas items to the shop), KK's booth, my kids, home, husband, house stuff (SO. much. house. stuff), Hayes' birthday party to plan, and MOPS. I am "Creative Activities Director" for MOPS this year. Have I mentioned that? It sounds so official....but it really means that I am in charge of crafts. For 80 people. Once a month. :) Like I said...all or nothing for this girl.

7. I made some leather strap pulls for our dining chairs and I LOVE how they turned out. The image above was my inspiration. I also added cushions from World Market to hide some damage to the wicker/woven seats. Love that, too! Hope to share photos soon.


That's all I have! I wrote a really long post about some of the house stuff that we are discussing but have yet to completely finish it. Maybe I will get that up this week. Would love to hear opinions from whoever reads this!

A Few Things For Friday

Hello!

I've been running around like a madwoman this week. And last week. And probably next week, too...BUT I did want to blog about a few things whilst in the land of cray-zay.

1. I read this book last week. Amazing. Especially if you like historical fiction (WWII in this instance). Read it, please!

2. I read this article on One Kings Lane and was all like, "Oh my gosh, YES." It's all about common decorating mistakes (and they were nice enough to provide some serious eye candy as well).  I'm no pro at decorating, but there are a few things that I do know...and every single one of them was on that list. Read that one, too!

3. I have discovered the land that is Home/Interior/Decor-gramming (on Instagram @katyleigh725). It is NUTS and everyone is SO nice.... and (I'm happy to say) a whole lot easier than blogging. I have jumped on that train and will probably not be getting off any time soon. There are actual pictures of my house on Insta now! I do apologize to my real-life friends as this has to be somewhat weird/random/annoying...but I'm 27 and am going to do what I want (although I am still self-conscious about it, there is no denying that.)

4. In case you didn't know, we are opening a booth at KK's Corner Mall in Lubbock (which you would know if you followed me on Instagram). That was my big surprise in my last post, haha. This is the reason I am in a state of madness right now, but it's all for a good cause. Meri Meri is the main party supply company that I will be carrying and it is SO amazing and I am so excited! Just thought you should know. :)

5. I am really considering investing (I call it investing, Bryan does not) in a pair of nice jeans. The current pair that I wear are the $6.90 jeans from Forever 21, but they are wearing out....for obvious reasons. I have read about these Vigoss jeans and am still debating. They are in my cart but I can't bring myself to send in the purchase. Any other recommendations are appreciated! I want distressed/hole-y.

6. Every week we get closer to fall, y'all. (!) I can feel the crispness and the hear the sounds of football now. I also wish we had fall foliage like this in LBK.

7. My kids are nuts. Tonight was spent watching Hayes just crack up laughing as Parker spit matchbox car across the room. Yes, spit. Hayes also throws his food back like nobody's business. He is a little animal.  He dances for turkey and cheese. And also when you sing to him. Parker woke up at 4am the other night and finally crashed at 4pm the next day...and didn't wake up for another 16 hours. Bless him. And me. He also DOES NOT STOP TALKING. All the time. And usually in some sort of repetitious way. And he growls a lot, like really loud. And he keeps peeing on the carpet. You guys, we are tired.

But we are happy. :)

That's all I got. Booth should be open next week, preschool starts in a month, and then I will take a very long nap!

A Couple of Things for Friday

Okay, actually a lot of things. (HA!)

We have had, by far, the craziest month of the whole year these past few weeks. But that's okay. It has been FUN.

I'm just going to catch up through photos (most of them look like they were on Instagram even though they weren't, because I have a terrible obsession with editing things in Insta and then not posting them. It is weird. Does anyone else do this?)

As few words as possible: Abby and Luke's wedding. Beautiful. Busy. Whole Family.  Happy tears. Fun.

Summertime fun with both sides of our family. So thankful for this.

The wedding programs and menus. (!!!!!) I made them and was SO happy with them. 

And that should be it for one post. But it's not. Because all the happened 3 weeks ago, and then….GALVESTON. 

As few words as possible: Humidity and salt. Lazy days. Home-cooked food. The best family. Lots of sun. A little redneck. A whole lot of fun!

We got back in time for swim lessons with THE Mrs. Sumer. (AKA best preschool teacher ever.)

I decorated with some antiques I got in Galveston.

And we freaked out a bit that our cousins got to stay for an extra week. (Movie theater selfie: Inside Out)

Parker showed Hensley around the Science Spectrum. You know, because he's a pro. ;) #everysingleday

And then the cousins left and we had withdraws! So sad. :(

The bathroom will never be done. But I do like these drawer pulls. 

I put some magnolia leaves in a little urn I found in Galveston. Hello there, lovely.

We've been sleeping in a lot.

And this guy turned NINE months old. I just can't process it at the moment. 

And that's us!

Summer is the best. But we do have a lot more fun coming up. 

I hope everyone else has been having a great summer. I have a few BIG things going on at the moment. They are the result of a quarter-life crisis. We are excited. We are nervous. But we are mostly excited. And thankful. And we are about to be super tired. :)
