Before and After: Dresser Style!

Monday, January 10, 2011

Ok, so I've shown you little sneak peeks of the dresser, but I finally finished it yesterday and wanted to share the completed "After"! It's still sitting on tarps and hasn't been decorated yet, but that's mainly because we are still working on the fireplace (fingers crossed it will be done tomorrow night!).

Ok, so here's the before:

I actually really liked the "Before" and the vintage look of it, but after looking at all of the flaws....

I decided it needed to be shown some love :). So I sanded it...

Stained it....

Stained it AGAIN

And then I finally had my "After"!

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Obviously, there are still dents and marks and other imperfections on it but I think it makes it look like something you would pay to have look "distressed". I love it! I had a lot of fun staining it (although, next time, I think I may just use one coat of stain). Except for sanding...I'm not a fan of sanding, but it was worth it! The dresser is basically sitting where it will "live" which is in the corner of our living room...right next to the fireplace which I will hopefully have pictures of in the next few days!

P.S. You can see more fun decor and furniture re-do's at The Shabby Nest!

  3. I love it!! I am so glad to see someone keep the wood tone. I am all for a white piece, but some pieces should stay natural...kudos!

  5. It looks great! I love it that you chose to sand and stain it. I am a big fan of wood and it kind of hurts my heart that its so trendy to paint everything now. Very nice!!
