Ok, so here's the before:
I actually really liked the "Before" and the vintage look of it, but after looking at all of the flaws....
I decided it needed to be shown some love :). So I sanded it...
Stained it....
Stained it AGAIN
And then I finally had my "After"!
BEFORE:
AFTER:
Obviously, there are still dents and marks and other imperfections on it but I think it makes it look like something you would pay to have look "distressed". I love it! I had a lot of fun staining it (although, next time, I think I may just use one coat of stain). Except for sanding...I'm not a fan of sanding, but it was worth it! The dresser is basically sitting where it will "live" which is in the corner of our living room...right next to the fireplace which I will hopefully have pictures of in the next few days!
P.S. You can see more fun decor and furniture re-do's at The Shabby Nest!
It looks beautiful. It's a ton of work. good for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think it turned out gorgeous! The stain is such a beautul rich color! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! I am so glad to see someone keep the wood tone. I am all for a white piece, but some pieces should stay natural...kudos!
ReplyDeleteIt's just beautiful! But, I'm with you - I'll do anything to avoid sanding! This has such a rich dimension. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWould love for you to drop by and link up to Passion for Paint this weekend.

It looks great! I love it that you chose to sand and stain it. I am a big fan of wood and it kind of hurts my heart that its so trendy to paint everything now. Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments--it was hard work but well worth it!
ReplyDeleteI would love to link to your party Colleen!
Beautiful! You gotta love it when your hard work pays off!
ReplyDeleteSooo pretty. What stain did you use?
