So....you know those wood floors we spent pretty much all of Christmas break installing? Yeah, they decided to start coming up in the kitchen and laundry room. After several failed attempts to inject Liquid Nails into the seams of the boards, Bryan decided to try and pull them up and start from scratch. Luckily, they all came up as easily as if they were never glued down. Yes, that's right, as if they were never glued down. I know I should be happy about this, and I am, but I would be a LOT happier if the glue had worked the first time around and we didn't have to spend our Tuesday night without a usable kitchen or dryer (the laundry's piling up!).
In all fairness, I think that this whole situation was totally our fault. When Bryan originally did the floors, we decided to make a quick trip to Wal-Mart and buy off-brand wood glue after running out of the original glue late one night. We were so tired of having our house torn up that we just wanted to get it done (!), and we thought Wal-Mart's brand would be good enough....we were SO wrong. As it turns out, that particular wood glue was HORRIBLE. I'm pretty sure we re-did every single board that was originally glued down with it.
BUT we are finished (just waiting for it to dry), and now we know to be patient and to get quality supplies when doing projects like this.
And so, with all the floor drama behind us (knock on wood--pun intended!), I will leave you with a picture of the cutest dog on the planet:
Aw, I know...he's adorable. And yes, that white spot on his ear is caulk. As in the caulk that we used for the fireplace....that's what you get when you're parents like to redo their house themselves :).
I also think he wants to be a human. He's getting really good at walking on his hind legs. I can taunt him with a dog biscuit and he can stand for seriously like 10 seconds...I think it's impressive.
Excuse the blurriness, it's hard to taunt your dog and take a picture at the same time.
Have a great day!

You may remember our old flooring....
...old, disgusting, overly stained, builder grade carpet and light beige tile. Well, after a lot of work from my wonderful husband and his trusty assistant:
What a CUTE assistant!
We finally completed the floors!! (Please don't judge the mess....that is still a work in progress)

I love it! The whole house feels so much warmer and more open. Bryan did a great job!
Now on to cleaning (LOTS of it) and decorating! Oh, and finishing that fireplace!

Family and Floors

Hi everyone! Things have been crazy ever since we got back from Colorado Tuesday, so I'm just now getting a chance to post.
First off, we had a GREAT rest of our week with the Roberts family, but packed up on Tuesday morning to head home and spend some time with my wonderful, crazy family. They arrived about an hour after we did, and after a quick trip to Lujan's (our favorite mexican place), my dad and Bryan got to work on the floors! While they spent the trip covered in dust and glue, my mom, sisters and I shopped till we dropped. We also made it to round 3 of Harry Potter (last time...promise) before we headed home to my very messy house where we had our belated Christmas!
Weird.
Yes, it seriously looks like a bomb exploded in our bedroom (which is currently being treated like a dorm room....paper plates, granola bars, and cleaning supplies are all stuffed under our bed at the moment...yessssss). We just don't have enough space to put all of our presents (I know, how horrible! Too many presents!)! The good thing is that Bryan and my dad got a lot of work done with the floors and we (I mean Bryan) will hopefully be done with them by the end of the week, which means that I will hopefully have a clean room soon.
Here are a few pictures of the floor progress (yesterday):

They look great, right?!
It was really nice getting to see everyone and I am SO sad that our family time is over...but I guess we all have to return to reality sometime.
I've also been working on a little project for my mom. She has been wanting to start her own landscaping/staging business for a while and decided to kick the whole thing off with a gardening blog...so, I made her one! I also made her a logo that will hopefully be used when her actual business gets up and going.

You can go to her blog (make sure to follow her!) by clicking HERE. She doesn't have anything posted yet, but she will soon!
That's pretty much it for now. I will hopefully be posting pictures of the FINISHED floors next time so stay tuned!
