Six and Seven Months

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

If you feel bad for Hayes and his horrid case of eczema…don't worry, I do too. I would not wish it on anyone!

(I am in Colorado and don't have his stats paper from the doctor, so this is just what I remember)

Weight: 18 lbs 3 oz
Length: 28 inches
Head: I think 18 inches?

Milestones: You can sit! You can reach and grab. You rock and scoot everywhere.

Sleeping: 2-3 naps a day--usually 9:30-11:30 and 3-6. You sleep from about 9 until 5-7am.

Eating: Every 3.5-4 hours. We nurse 5 times a day. ALSO, we started doing solid food which you really like! Loved cereal, also bananas, squash, and sweet potatoes. Not really a fan of the others though.

Likes: You love riding in the stroller, being outside, nursing, snuggling, playing in your entertainment center, and watching your brother.

Dislikes: Eczema. It's horrible and you scratch everywhere all the time! You also cry after bath time now.

Favorite Things About You: That you actually like baby food.  Still laid-back and happy!

Memories: Your first Easter was sweet. You and your brother matched and you were completely roll-y and adorable but didn't do much of anything else :).

For 7 months…

Weight: 18lbs 10oz

Milestones: SO CLOSE to crawling. You rock and rock and can go backwards all over the house but cannot crawl yet. You flip flop everywhere on your belly and have gotten really good at playing with your small toys.

Sleeping: 2 naps, 9:30-11/11:30 and 3-6. We've been doing an earlier bedtime at around 8:30 and you wake up around 6 or 7.

Eating: Still every 3.5-4 hours. I had moved you to 4 times a day and then your eczema got SO bad that your doctor suspended us from baby food in case of food allergies, so we went back to 5 times a day.

Likes: Pretty much the same. You are getting more playful with Parker and definitely have an opinion when he is too rough with you. You really want to play with his trains and will even sit and watch his tv shows with him. You have started screeching and yelling and it is absolutely hilarious.

Dislikes: Eczema. Eczema. Eczema. Your doc upped the strength of an already strong steroid cream for it. I am at a loss most days of what to do. We went to Austin this month and you came home so pathetically sick with an upper respiratory infection and and ear infection (and of course, eczema). Also, Parker has started showing jealousy signs more often (I'm assuming because you have been doing more), and can be really rough with you which you don't like at all! I keep telling him that one day you are doing to hit him back, haha.

Favorite Things About You: The yelling and screaming you have been doing to try to be included in conversations. We die laughing at it.

Memories: You had your baby blessing at church and went to the nursery for the first time! So far, so good. All the ladies love you, except that your nursery teacher, Mrs. Rhonda,  says you mostly just stare her down during class.  :) We went to Austin for the state tournament, too. You did really well considering that you were sick.

Four and Five Months.

Friday, March 20, 2015

I am SO great at monthly posts!

Weight: 16lb 10oz (75th %)
Height: 26.5in (95th%)
Head: 17in (91st%)

Milestones: Laughing!! It is really hard to get you going though. Your daddy, brother, and grammie are the best at it. A lot of the time your laugh is a big long "haaaaaaa", but they are good at getting belly laughs. :) Good at sitting up with assistance and propping yourself on your elbows.

Sleeping: We have been all over the place. You started waking up at 5 or 6am every morning which was sad for mom. So pretty much anywhere between 7-10 hours. You take a good long morning nap and are kind of hit and miss in the afternoon. Usually two 1 hour long naps.

Eating: Still 3-3.5 hours. No solids yet; your brother traumatized me.

Likes: Tummy time, being outside, being rocked, your brother, sucking on your hands, thumb, paci--whatever you can get. Getting your bottom patted. You like when I sing to you, too. I usually end up on blue Skies and Rainbows or the Wheels on the Bus.

Dislikes: You have a horrible case of eczema and none of us are fans of it. You claw up your little head and it is so sad! I have to trim your nails every few days to keep you from scratching, but you don't like getting your nails trimmed either, so that is a challenge.

Favorite Things About You: Your hair has started coming in blonde and it is oh so cute. You have the gummiest smile and a sweet dimple right below your lower lip. You are still mellow, and still just like to be along for the ride.

Memories: You took your first bottle this month from your daddy and you apparently wolfed that sucker down without a problem. Mom was a little sad. Parker LOVES you so much, and is constantly wanting to show you his trains and tells you all about them. He also loves to show you off to his friends, even though he gets very protective when they get too close. ("He MINE baby brother.") He also is constantly saying "Awwwww, he so coot (cute)…awwww, he so seet (sweet)…aw, he so wittle (little). And he gets a little panicked when you cry in the car and can't give you your paci. He very aggressively comforts you, saying, "It's okay, Hayes! Aww, SHHHHH! It's okay, don't cry! Mommy, give Hayes his paci!"

Weight: 17lb 10oz

Milestones: You finally started rolling over a little more regularly this month! SO close to sitting, but I think we still have another month. Mom and dad are ready for you to have more body control!

Sleeping: Still all over the place. Anywhere from 7-10 hours, but you got a horrible upper respiratory infection the last two weeks that has you waking up coughing all the time. It is sad :). I WILL get you on a better nap schedule this month!

Eating: We have moved to 4 hours (sometimes 3.5). Really trying to establish a morning and afternoon nap, so that has helped stretch eating times a bit. You have been projectile spitting up SO much, but that is just because you've been sick.

Likes: You love your little entertainment center! You could stand in that thing all day and play with it. Your eyebrows get very concerned when you are playing, and you look a lot like dad. Speaking of him, you love him.  We are finally getting to spend more time outside and I wish I could keep you out there all day because your little face is just so in awe of everything.

Dislikes: Eczema. Coughing. Burping.

Favorite Things About You: More hair for you!! We have gone from dark hair, to totally bald, to a lot of blonde hair (I realize that you look bald to most people, but up close your head is covered!) And dare I say it…it may be a tiny bit wavy? You're a chunky monkey and I love it. You've been smiling at everyone we see and seem to be quite the flirt. Little old ladies stop me at the grocery store and always comment on your pretty pouty lips.

Memories: I don't even know. I feel like this month was filled with a lot of sick from everyone. You are the only one to survive the stomach bug from he** that hit me, your dad, your poor brother, Nonnie, Pops, Bee, Grammie, and Abby (in that order). You were perfectly fine with us passing you around to the least queazy person during the whole mess. And then you got sick and that seems to still be going strong. Your Grammie got to give you a bottle a couple of times and was in heaven. Um…I will think of more for the baby book. :)

And for my Nanny… :)

HELLO! Hayes is 3 Months (and 2 months also but that was last month)

Friday, January 23, 2015

Because I am an awesome blogger, here is Hayes' 2 MONTH stuff:

Weight: 13.5 pounds (91%)
Height: 24.5 inches (98%)

Milestones: Started smiling around 6 weeks! Sweet gummy smile with a little dimple by your lower lip. Also started cooing! Loves to imitate sounds. Your little eyes sparkle when you talk and smile. The best.

Sleeping: Started sleeping through the night at around 6 weeks (about 6 hours), and then you were at 7-8 hours when you were 7-8 weeks. Kind of randomly napping between feedings…I've been a horrible nap scheduler!

Eating: Still fast, eating every 3 hours. Hard to burp but you are not really a spitter which is absolutely awesome. Outgrown all newborn and are in some 3-6 month clothes.

Likes: Watching brother play, sleeping in mom and dad's bed, Christmas lights, Riding in the car, bath time. I will say you are a momma's boy, too :).

Dislikes: Being hungry. I don't know, you are truly laid back. I know, I'm lucky. Horrid case of cradle cap this month, too. You didn't like that. Oh and shots…that was traumatic.

Favorite Things About You: All the rolls! Sweet little pudgy fingers. How you always, without a doubt, sleep with your arms balled up in fists on either side of your head.

Memories: First Thanksgiving, first trip to Colorado. First time to see Santa. Big brother says, "It's okay, honey" when you cry. He also directs me to put your paci in when you cry, too. ;) I have more written in the baby book so that will do it for the blog!

Good grief he grew last month!! Here is all the 3 month stuff:

Weight: 15.5-16 pounds
Height: 26 inches

Milestones: Don't know about too many new ones…you have definitely gotten stronger and are pretty steady holding your head up most of the time. Starting using the bumbo which you like a lot. You do giggle a bit which is adorable and always get the hiccups when you are trying to "talk".

Sleeping: Usually sleeps about 6-8 hours (11pm-6 or 7am) a night but the day you turned 3 months you slept 9.5! That was awesome! Trying to get you to nap 1.5-2 hours between feedings but you are hit and miss with long naps.

Eating: Stretching to 3-3.5 hours. Still very quick, although we have had more spit up this month!

Likes: Watching tv--you could stare at a football game for an hour. Your head whips around when big brother is in the room trying to keep up with him. Still like baths and napping with mom when we should not be sleeping :).

Dislikes: Struggling with eczema more this month. Our entire family has sensitive skin…and you are no exception. :( You are starting to not like having the car seat cover over your face for a long time.

Favorite Things About You: You are so very mellow it's a bit unreal. You kind of just sleep or sit and stare, or the best--sit and smile. You are along for the ride and so happy. You also have rolls everywhere and I am basically obsessed with them and your receding hair line.

Memories: You had your first Christmas this month and got toys from Santa (which you didn't care about obviously). I feel like G.G. held you all week which was sweet. You stayed up till midnight on New Year's and I gave you a little kiss. :) You also made a second trip to CO and flew on a plane for the first time. You were a rockstar--slept the whole time or just stared at me as I dragged us through the airport and had several emotional breakdowns. You went to a sweet friend's wedding where many wedding guests about gobbled you up.

Whew. Done for a few more weeks!

Actually. I'm going to blog something else soon. It will happen. IT WILL.

Five Months Old!

Friday, October 5, 2012

The fifth month of Parker Reed's life has been SO much fun, and was jammed-packed with developmental milestones. Here are just a few... (The baby book will have many, many more!)

Weight: Probably about 18 pounds...maybe more :)
Length: Probably about 27.5 inches
Head Circumference: Probably about 17.5 inches

  • You wear size 3 diapers
  • You are in the last leg of 3-6 month clothes, and wear mostly 6 month, and even 6-9 month clothes.
  • You are still a breastfed boy, eating 4 times a day
  • We started doing baby food this month! But, alas, you weren't a fan of the spoon or green beans, so we took a little break. I also don't think I was really ready for it. :( I think we will start up again soon. You have made many a funny face though during this process though!
  • You sleep 10-11 hours a night and usually take a 2.5 hour nap in the morning and are hit and miss with your nap in the afternoon---although we aim to get a 2-2.5 hour nap in then too. You still L-O-V-E your sleep!
  • You started going to nursery at church this month. The ladies love you!
  • You can sit up very easily on your own now! Even in a high chair and shopping carts!
  • You scoot on your tummy and can turn yourself in circles with your strong little legs.
  • Your favorite toy is your paci clip. :)
  • You love to suck your paci upside down.
  • You think it's HILARIOUS when we click our tongues at you and often try to imitate it.
  • You also think it's hilarious when we toss you up and down (carefully), and when I sing the Pink Panther song and walk really slowly up to you. You laugh so hard that you wheeze, which is also hilarious.
  • You love to be scared. That is, again, hilarious.
  • You are really enjoying bath time sitting up! You even try to play with your toys.
  • You love your door jumper, your Bumbo, and your entertainment center.
  • You went to a pumpkin patch and the fair for the first time this month.
  • You moved from the Nap Nanny to your crib this month!! I was so nervous about this one, but it was SUCH an easy transition, thank goodness!
  • You still love people, everyone is your friend. You love football games, you love church, you love other kids and babies. And you love pretty girls. The last picture above is your flirty smile.
  • You are obsessed with Sonic cups. I have no clue why? Maybe it's because I always have one with me. :)
  • You still growl, motorboat, and yell like no one's business. And you are SO proud of yourself. And I am SO proud of you!

And now little mister is awake and it is time to eat! See you all later!

Four Months!

Monday, September 10, 2012

My sweet, sweet, happy boy is FOUR months old! Time flies--way more so when you have a baby.

P.S. This post is two weeks late-- the pictures were taken on time, but what can I say, I'm a slacker at actually getting it up on the blog. Apologies.

Second P.S. This post was ridiculously long so I condensed it for everyone's sake. The long version is going in the baby book. :)

Length: 26.5" (97th percentile)
Weight: 16lbs 10oz (90th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17 inches (90th percentile)

  • You wear 3-6 month clothes and some 6-9 month clothes since you are so tall.
  • You have rolled over tummy to back several times this month!
  • You have rolled over back to tummy once.
  • You LAUGHED for the first time this month. Great belly laughs!
  • You started teething a bit this month. You suck your hands, drool a gallon a day, and have two little buds for your bottom center teeth. You're still not too bothered by it though, which is good.
  • You still nurse very fast! You eat 5 times a day right now and take about 8 ounces at each feeding (I think).
  • Your record for sleep so far is 11 hours! I was shocked the first time you did this, and actually had to wake you up, so I know you could have slept longer. Most nights though, you go to bed at 10pm and wake up at 8am. So you sleep 10 hours pretty consistently with 3-4 two hour naps during the day. You like to sleep :). Maybe that's why you're so happy!
  • You growl when you are upset. You very rarely ever cry, but you will growl or grunt when you are tired, hungry, or frustrated at something. It's really funny and strangers always think you are pooping. ;)
  • You love hearing funny sounds and you love to see other people laugh. You've gotten to where you are pretty good at imitating them too!
  • You are SUCH a ham and love the camera now. You definitely know when to smile!
  • You like to flirt. I don't know how I feel about this :)
  • You love to burrow into my chest when you are tired and also do that when you are feeling bashful. I think it's pretty adorable.
  • You are really liking touch and feel books these days since you can reach out and touch them.
  • You love people. No one is a stranger. Everyone gets a smile. And I love that about you :).
  • You still do not like to be off of your schedule.
  • You traveled most of this month. And you were a travel champ! You went to Denver, Monroe (LA), then drove through Missippi and Alabama to get to Altanta, then drove back to Monroe, then drove to Lufkin (TX), then drove to Houston to fly to Lubbock. Yes. Exhausting. But SO fun :). We LOVE our family!!!

Have an awesome Monday. I will be here drowning in the large amount of laundry that needs to be done :).

Three Months!

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

I cannot believe that Parker Reed is THREE months old! Each month has blessed us with a another little piece of Parker's sweet personality. We are having SO much fun with him. Here are a few things that have happened this month....

Length: About 25 inches (we go in next week for a check-up)
Weight: I'm going to guess 16-ish pounds. You are a whopper!
Head Circumference: 18 inches

Milestones This Month:

-You can sit up with assistance very easily.
-You can raise your head off the ground for about 30 seconds while doing tummy time.
-You can roll over from side to tummy and side to back. (You actually rolled over tummy to back the day after you turned 3 months though!)
-You discovered your hands at around 9-10 weeks old and are obsessed with sucking them and looking at them. You also rub your eyes when you're sleepy. It's the cutest thing!
-You have moved up to big boy bottles and drink 6-8 ounces of breast milk every 3.5 hours during the day. You can nurse in about 15-20 minutes which is exciting for mom!
-Your record for sleep so far is 7.5 hours! You've been doing this pretty consistently since you were 9-10 weeks old. :) SO proud!
-You've grown out of a lot of your 0-3 month clothes and are mostly in 3-6 month clothes.
-You figured out that you are ticklish on July 5th while your daddy was tickling you! It was hilarious.
-You let out little giggles when you talk but haven't done a full-on belly laugh yet.
-You got your first set of shots this month....it was more traumatic for mommy though. :(

Things You Like This Month:

-Your Bumbo! You get so proud of yourself and smile like crazy when you're sitting up.
-Your Nap Nanny. I love your Nap Nanny too!
-Your hands. You suck on them all the time--we can hear it from across the house!
-Books. You have really taken an interest in your books lately and really look at each page.
-TV. You get sucked into the TV like the rest of us. You totally zone out but still suck your paci like crazy while watching which is pretty funny. I feel bad for letting you watch TV though, so I bought....
-Baby Einstein videos. These creep me out but you are mesmerized by them! They are great for when I have to shower/do productive grownup things around the house.
-Daddy. And you love when daddy "flies" with you.
-You love bath time.
-You L-O-V-E to be naked.

Things You Don't Like This Month:

-You don't like when your schedule gets off! We did a very casual version of Baby Wise with you, and your routine got really messed up when we were traveling...you were over-tired and NOT happy!
-You don't like the nursing cover and always try to pull it down while we're out in public. Because of this, I have flashed an entire Mexican restaurant. :-/
-Your legs were achy after your shots and you hated that it hurt to kick. It was so sad!

Special Memories From This Month:

-You drove to Galveston (Texas), Monroe (Louisiana), and Odessa (Texas) this month. You were a travel champ as usual!
-You stuck your feet in the Gulf of Mexico this month and loved it!
-You went swimming for the first time this month. We bought a huge blow-up pool, spent about an hour getting it ready, and then you sat in it for about 5 minutes. Very anti-climatic. :)
-You rode in a golf-cart parade on your first 4th of July.
-You met most of the rest of your family this month, including two sets of great-grandparents, a great-aunt and a few cousins, and your second cousin who is 5 days older than you!
-I loved getting to see you coo and talk to everyone in our family. They LOVED you so much and you were so happy to entertain them! It broke my heart when we had to take you home.

My baby is getting so big! I can't believe it. Have a wonderful day, friends!!

Two Months.

Friday, July 13, 2012

Parker is actualy 2.5 months but we'll pretend that it's two weeks ago and I posted this on time....

Length: 23.5 inches (80th percentile)
Weight: 13.7 pounds (90th percentile)
Head Circumference: 16.4 inches (95th percentile)

  • You moved up to size one diapers at around 5 weeks old. (After I gave up trying to stuff you in newborn diapers...it was a sad day for mom.)
  • You are out of your newborn clothes (also sad), but wear mostly 0-3 and some of your 3-6 month clothes.
  • You starting smiling at around 5 weeks, but the first time you gave out "big smiles" was for your daddy when you were 5 weeks 6 days old. We got it on camera too.
  • You made your first trip to Colorado when you were 5 weeks old and your first trip to California when you were 7 weeks old. You are well traveled!
  • Your record for sleep so far is 6.5 hours.
  • You started cooing and "having conversations" with us when you were about 7.5 weeks old. We absolutely LOVE this! I have spent many hours just sitting around talking with you. You are very polite and wait for whomever is talking to you to finish before you talk back.
  • You are eating about 5-6 ounces at each feeding!
  • You discovered your tongue at about 5 or 6 weeks and have been obessesed with showing it off ever since!
  • You love your sunglasses. Seriously, you wear them all the time and don't really care that they are there! It's hilarious.
  • You like the TV and especially pay attention when a baseball game is on. At first I thought it was just a coincidence, but now I've noticed that you are seriously watching it. Like father, like son....
  • You got to see where your daddy and I grew up, met, and got married! I made sure to tell you what happened at certain locations on our trip to Colorado, like "This is where your daddy and I took pictures before prom", and, "This is where your daddy took me on our second date", and,"This is the exact room that your daddy and I first met." Cheesy, yes, but true.
  • We stuck your feet in the Pacific Ocean when we were in San Diego...you actually kind of hated it, but now we can say that you've been there, done that!

One Month.

Monday, June 4, 2012

I cannot believe that our baby boy is ONE month old! It has truly flown.

Length: 21.25 inches (at two week appointment)
Weight: 8 pounds 14 ounces (at two week appointment)
  • You ROLLED OVER at 10 days old which completely freaked me, your dad, and your Nonnie out, but we got it on tape and were so proud! You haven't done it since, but you are one strong little guy!
  • Your record for sleep so far has been 5 hours...go you!
  • You have a great taste in music! I love this characteristic and I credit it to the many hours you listened to it while you were in my belly. One day when you were fussy, I tried to calm you down with some baby-ish lullaby music....you were not having it though. I gave up and decided to turn on my iTunes and you immediately calmed down and fell asleep about 2 minutes later. We have been listening to lots of "grown up" music since then! Your favorites are Young the Giant, Vampire Weekend, and Coldplay.
  • You are a great people person and a very sweet little snuggler. Everyone comments on what a good baby you are and I have to agree! We got very lucky that you have your daddy's temperament.
  • You sneeze all the time but sometimes do a "fake out" and instead of actually sneezing, you let out this big coo that is so adorable even though you don't mean to do it. Then you smile like your all proud of yourself even though you don't know you're doing that either.
  • You love to be sung to sleep. I stick with one of my favorites--"You Are My Sunshine" and your eyes always start to droop almost immediately. It takes me about 5 minutes to get you drowsy enough to lay down. (Yes, I realize how amazing that is.)
  • You do not like to be in a dirty diaper. This is really the only time you get in a really bad mood. I understand though---I wouldn't want to sit in poo either ;).
